If you’re reading beyond that headline, I hope you’re ready! And, that wasn’t just click-bait. I firmly believe that you don’t need anything special to manage your fitness just because the holiday season is upon us.

Instead, how about we embrace all the unique and beautiful elements of the upcoming celebrations for all they are worth? How about this year we do it differently than we ever have before?

How do we let go of the dread of losing control of our appetites, weight gain, losing what you’ve worked hard to improve and we just let the holidays show up? Let me explain.

When you understand how your body works, when you’re aware of how food makes you feel and you have experienced the improvements of strength training and endurance, then you aren’t thrown off by special events, holidays or even vacations. Anyone can learn to live this way. Well, anyone who is willing to learn new things and let go of old habits. Are you that person?

Let’s paint the picture: You’re getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner with all your family or friends. All the favorite food is there and ready to be eaten. You choose the foods you like, enjoy eating them and appreciate the effort that was taken to prepare and plate the meal. Afterwards, you feel energized and satisfied. You help with dishes or play with kids or catch up with people you’ve not seen for a while, all without even a thought about the effect this meal will have on your scale, how your clothes fit or how you feel. Because now, you feel great! There’s no bloating, no regret, no sneaking extra desserts or cleaning up after people leave. You’ve learned how to eat to satiety and satisfaction and even foods you used to consider unhealthy or off limits, you can now enjoy fully. You don’t spend time regretting what you did or didn’t do, you don’t have to loosen your belt because you ate too much or exercise extra the rest of the week to “burn off” the calories.

Now you understand that your physiology is much more complicated than calories in and calories out. We aren’t made up of a math equation and we aren’t balanced on a scale. Instead, we understand the hormone signaling that tells our bodies to either store food for later or use food we have already stored before. You know you don’t exercise off extra calories because exercise is a stress reliever and strengthener, not a torch for fat cells and belly bulges. You know that your energy systems are intricately connected and regulated by hormones. You know when you’re truly hungry and when you’re full and you also know how to keep food in perspective and out of emotional triggers. You’re free to enjoy holidays with meals because now you know.

Can you picture yourself free from whatever diet rules we’ve tried to obey that never helped? Can you feel the peace in your mind when you don’t have to worry about gaining fat from one meal? Or any meal? Can you see yourself investing time into your workouts so they are effective and useful? Can you imagine enjoying a fasting lifestyle that includes periods of no meals alternated with meals full of nourishing and satisfying real food? No more diet shakes and protein bars to “keep your metabolism working”. Now, you’ll enjoy real food, real fitness and a life you can live to the fullest.

These are not pipe dreams for some imaginary people group that doesn’t have your life. This dream can be your life! And I’d love to teach you how you can feel amazing and free and full, all at once. Connect with me here to get started.
